It’s Thursday’s with Sharon and here in the Northeast we are trying to stay cool amidst this heat wave! The Attain® IVF Call Center reps have gotten a few suggestions from callers such as; keep cool beverages close by, limit your outdoor activities, and share the shower with your honey! (woo-hoo)
Ok, so you’ve taken the first step and scheduled your first appointment (yeah) and have a couple of weeks to think about all the things you want to ask the doctor once there.
You’re going to be offered all sorts of information and sometimes, the only way to understand is to ask questions, and if it doesn’t seem clear right away, ask again until the answers make sense.
I’ve listed some basic questions you may want to consider asking:
• What are your office hours?
• If I have a question, who speaks with your patients? A nurse? The doctor? Someone else?
• Are there special times for patients to call in with questions and if I need to leave a message how long before someone call me back?
Part of the initial consultation may include the need to have medical testing done to help determine the cause of infertility. It is normal and understandable that this part of the treatment can be unnerving. So ask away..
• Ask for written guidelines to find out what to do before going in for the test, i.e.; fasting; discontinue certain meds including OTC, etc.
• What is the purpose of the test and what is the procedure like?
• Will the doctor be prescribing any medications for the test?
• Will you need a ride home after the test is completed?
• How soon will the test results be available and will the office be calling me? If not, can I call to get the results?
• Does my health plan cover the test? If not, what is the cost?
Our website also provides an extensive checklist of questions you may want to ask during your appointment.
You’ve made it to the first step and your journey toward parenthood is one step closer. We at Attain IVF Customer Care are here to assist you through the process. So give us a call at 1-866-968-7483. Be positive and have faith.
Until next time, all my best!
