The holiday season is upon us! Today I want to discuss how dedicated and committed all my patients (and all infertile couples) are to becoming parents even during the holidays.

My patients never fail to impress me! Seriously, every day every single one of my patients shows me how dedicated and committed they are to becoming parents. I really do have amazing multitasking, schedule rearranging, and long distance driving/flying patients.

I can relate to my patients’ dedication and sacrifice. When my wife and I struggled with infertility, we would have traveled to the ends of the earth or stood on our heads if that was what it would have taken to help us get pregnant. After many years of trying to conceive, IVF finally worked for us. All our sacrifice was worth it. Here are just a few examples of patients who have sacrificed in order to grow their families.

A few months ago, I saw “Grace” (not her real name) in my office. I was about to perform her saline sonogram when she told me that she would have to field a phone call for a job interview during the procedure. So, half way through the procedure (while in the stirrups), she calmly and gracefully answered her cell phone and began interviewing for a job. Not only did she get the job, she also got pregnant with the next insemination cycle!

Last month, another “Grace” (not her real name) told me that she moved to Dallas just so that she could be my patient. I was absolutely honored. She and her husband are nurses. As traveling nurses, they are able to travel and live anywhere. So, they found me on the SART database, moved to Dallas, and become my patients. They finished an IVF cycle and are now pregnant with twins!

Just today, I saw another “Grace” (not her real name) who told me that she had made arrangements with her family and job to be able to stay in Dallas during this year’s holidays so that she could undergo an IVF cycle. We planned out her cycle and I am hopeful that she will have the Christmas baby she has been dreaming about.

I am just so honored and thankful that all my patients go to such extreme lengths to receive treatments to begin their families. I know that it’s not only my patients that exhibit this dedication, it’s all couples who struggle with infertility that make these sacrifices to grow their families. It is their dedication and commitment that drives me to be even more dedicated to them and their dreams of a family.

All infertility patients are “Amazing Graces” in my book! Happy holidays.
