Happy Thursday afternoon to you! It’s Sharon, here at the Attain® IVF Call Center. Here in the Northeast we are “folks bundled up like Eskimos”, its freezing! If you live in a temperate climate, please send some pictures to warm us up.
Its Holiday time and my thoughts are with you. The hustle and bustle of family gatherings, social events, and Santa overload can otherwise bring the cheerful spirit of the season to a flicker to those dealing with infertility.
I wanted to switch things up and share advice and suggestions to the family and friends of those experiencing infertility. You may want to tuck this into their stocking..
Learn about infertility so that you can be better informed and more understanding.
Avoid advice. Although well meaning, the feelings one may be experiencing due to infertility do not resolve with humor, social gatherings and egg nog.
Share your support. Just knowing you are there for them will make them feel welcome and not alone.
Have patience and understand that infertility brings on many different emotions and reactions differ from person to person.
The art of listening may be the best gift to give.
