I have a love/hate relationship with breakfast. I’m a big fan of breakfast foods. Pancakes, oatmeal, fruit, eggs, bacon (mmmmm, bacon….), they’re all good. But I’ve always had a hard time eating them at breakfast time. You see, I am not a morning person. In fact, I think I just heard my husband scoff at my understatement from 2 rooms away.
I tend to roll out of bed at the last possible moment, leaving just enough time for personal hygiene and ensuring the kids don’t look like they’re homeless. I feed my children, but half the time I’m so busy getting 5,000 urgent things done for my family or for work that I forget to eat until 11 am or so. By then I’m ready to gnaw off my arm and the cats are starting to look tasty. Luckily, I can’t stand pain and the cats are really fast.
Clearly this is a habit I need to change. I am diabetic and not eating regularly can wreak havoc with my blood sugar, but it’s not just me. I know lots of you skip breakfast too! (Like how I deflected that onto all of you?) Eating breakfast helps us avoid overeating later in the day and make better food choices throughout the day.
So this week, the One Thing I’m going to do to make myself healthier (and help me lose weight) is eating breakfast. Although I may be eating turkey bacon instead of the real thing!
Now on to the stats!
Weight loss for the week: 3 lbs
Total weight loss: 3 lbs
I’m happy to report that this has been a great week. I lost a bit more than I’d like for one week, so I’ll be taking extra care to make sure I drink enough water and eat enough to lose weight gradually. I also pretty much stuck to my plan of cutting off the email and work by 11pm and it’s helping me sleep better. I’m going to need that sleep so I can get myself up early enough to eat breakfast.
I hope everyone else had a great week too and I’m eager to hear about it!

Congrats, Steph!!!
Luckily, I am a morning person and a creature of habit. Every day it’s Greek yogurt (calcium and protein), fruit and a handful of Kashi Go Lean cereal in a bowl. My workmates tell me it looks like I threw up in a bowl, but it’s yummy. I was better last week at not viewing my current health issues as a result of something I’m doing wrong. This week I’m want to break a bad habit — night snacking. Once I start grazing it’s all over. Not good even when it’s healthy choices. So no food after 8:30.
It actually sounds yummy to me too! LOL! Night snacking has always been a big problem for me too. Cutting out the working after 11 pm is definitely helping though.
Going a whole week without blaming yourself is a big thing! Congrats!
