Weight Loss and Wellness Wednesday: Valentine’s Day Stress Relief

The husband and I have been trying to have a baby for almost two years now. For 23 months, I’ve been charting and peeing on sticks and demanding sex on a timetable. T is definitely not complaining, but it’s still kind of hard to keep it fresh and spontaneous when the date is circled on the calendar. (Or in our geeky family, noted on the shared family Google calendar!)

Now that my brother, my parents, my mother-in-law and any of our various relatives reading this blog have run screaming from the room, we’ll move on to the sex discussion!

Sex is an important part of any serious partnership. I know in my marriage, sex helps us stay intimate in other ways. We’re both so busy and tired at the end of the day, but spending time together is important for our relationship. As a bonus, sex can be a huge stress reliever! But when you’re faced with infertility, it can be hard to keep sex fun.

So on Facebook last week, I asked all of you what you do to keep it spontaneous and here are some of the great comments we got:

While it can get quite clinical during ttc, we never make it a chore! Sex was fun before we did it functionally, it’s fun now that it is for the intended reason and it will be fun after the baby making years are done! ~Lori

So now we all have some great suggestions for keeping it fresh this Valentine’s Day. This week, I’m going to work on making baby making fun again and hopefully we’ll get in some “stress relief” of our own along the way!
