Weight Loss & Wellness Wednesday: Getting Back on Program

cookiesIt’s been a bad week for weight loss in my house.

Last week during my trip to D.C., I sort of fell off the wagon. The last two weeks have been almost nonstop for me between business trips and juggling the demands of clients and family. My diet suffered.  Now I am not like my kids, who will sell their soul for any cookie they see and the brighter and more gaudy the color the better. (Exhibit A: The cookies on the left.)  But I’m now hoping that what happens between me and a bag of Double Stuff Oreos stays between me and said Oreos!

If you’re like me, you have certain triggers that send you off into unhealthy eating. For me, the trigger is stress. Unfortunately, as a Type A individual, stress is practically my middle name! While I can’t necessarily eliminate all the stress from my life – work, infertility, family and other obligations – I can change how I react to it. And keep the evil Oreos out of my house! Seriously, I’m not normally a big fan of the cookie, but there’s something about Oreos….

So my One Thing I’ll be doing to make myself healthier is to watch how I react to stress and try to mange it in a better way. Rather than loading myself with work, forgetting to eat lunch and then scarfing down whatever I can find in the fridge, I’ll be setting an alarm and setting aside time in my calendar to make sure I eat all of my scheduled meals and snacks and don’t reach for the sinful chocolate cookies with yummy double stuffed filling instead!

Since I didn’t post last week, here’s the weight loss update for last week and this week:

Weight loss for last week: 0.6 lbs

Weight gain for this week: 0.8 lbs
Total weight loss: 7.8 lbs
