Following through is hard to do. Seriously.
I like to say that I have a “short attention span” but my home is riddled with projects I’ve never finished.
There was the whole sewing project of 2001. I was going to make curtains and pillows for the house. I made two pillows, that fell apart about 3 months later, and I think we’ve carted the rolls of fabric around for 2 moves so far. I saw them in the garage the other day.
Then there was the scrapbooking thing that happened in 2004. My oldest son’s scrap book ends at 9 months. My younger son? Well….? Is it horrible if I admit that I designed and ordered birth announcements for him but never actually sent them to anyone? I’m hoping they can double as high school graduation announcements. If we ever manage to get my messed up body to bear another child, heaven help him or her. He or she will be lucky to get a card board box filled with memory cards from my camera.
We still haven’t finished painting the house we bought in Southeast Virginia in 2005. The previous occupant had some interesting color combinations. As a result, we’ve repainted our hallway a nice sand color with red accents, but the main staircase risers are still a strange turquoise color. Hopefully, most visitors to our home just think I’m color blind.
And of course, every year I’m going to transform our garden. Well, that never goes very far. I usually end up picking out the plants I want, spending a few days planting, and then my long suffering husband ends up finishing it off while I lounge on a chair and supervise. (Anyone wants to guess who maintains the raised vegetable garden beds I decided we should start last year?)
Today is the last Weight Loss & Wellness Wednesday blog post.
But I’m not going to quit. Becoming healthier, having another baby, these are things that are more important to me than any clashing home colors or unfinished art project. For my health, for a baby? I will follow through.
