One of the most rewarding stories I remember most would be when I began talking to a patient on the phone to set up an appointment and we began talking about her care. She told me she never met a front office receptionist that was so kind. She said she wanted someone to just listen to her and feel where she was coming from and be told it wasn’t the end of the road. She said she wanted to meet me when she came in for her appointment. She came in for her new patient appointment and she said she felt so comfortable. She touched me because she has been trying to get pregnant since she was my age, 24 years old. She was diagnosed with endometriosis and I couldn’t imagine what she has been through. She became pregnant after a year and half, after several inseminations and one IVF cycle.
She invited me to her baby shower, when I got there she introduced me as one of the girls that helped make her dream come true. She was so grateful just for the little things I did to make her experience as enjoyable as possible. She brought in her little girl so I can meet her; she is beautiful. I could see how happy and grateful they were. They finally got the family they have wanted for so long.
Our special patient really opened my eyes in a lot of different ways while I was talking with her during this whole journey. People never think they are going to have troubles getting pregnant, when it’s really common. I have a very different outlook on how I look at pregnancies and how grateful and thankful people should be.
