I can’t tell you how many times I get asked, “How do I pick the right egg donor?” and, “What do other people do?”
I wish I had a magic formula to provide as the answer, but in reality there is no “right” or “wrong” way to select the donor that is right for you. The most obvious piece of the puzzle is to select a donor that meets the criteria to be able to provide a good outcome…after all, the goal is to create a family. The rest of the parts of the formula are as unique as the recipient who is looking for their “match.”
Choosing an egg donor is the most personal and individualized decision one can make. For some recipients, ethnic background is the most important criteria, for others it’s education or whether the donor has children of her own, and yet for others it’s a gut feeling that they get when see the donor’s picture and just “connect.”
At RSC we’ve taken care of one piece of the puzzle by pre-screening all of our Program Donors, to help ensure a positive outcome. The rest is up to the recipient. We are here as a resource to guide you through the process and most importantly to provide you with as much information as possible to help you make the decision that is right for YOU.
